Together. Learning From the Past. Shaping Our Future.
As I look back over the year, I am surprised by the emotions and memories that well up. I have much to be thankful for, and excited about the possibilities in the new year.
I have worked with many of you this year, whether it be an individual, couple, workshop or group basis. I count it a privilege to offer guidance and care to help a life transform in some way. Thank you for putting your trust in me by working together or giving out my name to another.
On a different note, this year has been one of intense pain and struggle for many around the world. Not withstanding the constant “need” to be in war, there have been many situations in this country to give us pause. We think of the destruction that Super Storm Sandy brought to the East Coast, the theater shootings in Colorado, the mall shootings in Oregon, and the latest, the shootings in Newtown, CT.
This post is not to bemoan the lack of effective gun control, or effective tracking measures for those suffering from mental illness. It’s not even the fact that our culture has a distorted concept of manhood, and therefore horribly “uses” firearms as a symbol of masculinity (http://www.salon.com/2012/12/17/bushmasters_horrible_ad_campaign/). Ahhh… Kevin, keep breathing!
Again, there is much to be grateful, and much to celebrate! You are a big part of that! Let’s look to 2013 and fill it with crazy, grace-filled, random acts of kindness and love. We must be, as Gandhi reminds us, the change we wish to see in the world.
Please keep in touch. Refer your friends. Sign up for some of the scheduled classes and groups. Let’s make 2013 a year to remember! Together. Let’s learn from the past, and shape our future.
